Founded in 2005 by a young couple with big dreams, Earth Lodge was the first commercial property to be built on this mountain. The original owners put untold amounts of sweat and love into building the property, beginning by forging a road and engineering basic necessities like water and power. The farm resort was built cabin by cabin, avocado tree by avocado tree, continuously evolving into “that famous treehouse resort” in the not-so-far mountains just outside the historic city of Antigua, Guatemala.
In 2023 a family with a passion for supporting the local community, great food, and exceptional travel experiences took on the challenge of caring for the land and the people who make up the Earth Lodge family. Earth Lodge re-emerged with the same heart and epic views of Antigua’s famous volcanoes, but with a whole new focus and mission: to be a place where everyone can experience wellness and joy in their own way.
Careful attention is given to every detail to provide the perfect setting to enjoy the beautiful tropical surroundings of their expansive mountain property; from the clean modern decor locally sourced for the renovated cabins, spa, and lodge, to the organic and eco-friendly soaps and bath products, which are safe and friendly for our greywater system which cycles the water into the surrounding plant life and finca.
REVIVE co-founder, Becca Pace, visited the Earth Lodge last year and knew immediately we needed to host a retreat at this stunning location! Additional Considerations:
1. Accessing Earth Lodge: To get to and from Earth Lodge, your vehicle will drop you off at the top of their hiking trail, which passes through a beautiful nature preserve. The hiking trail to Earth Lodge is fully paved (concrete and cobblestones for traction), lit, and is 300M long. The hiking trail is a semi-steep hill, expect the descent to take 10-15 minutes to walk, and the ascent 15-20 minutes to walk depending on your pace. Earth Lodge can provide walking sticks and bag porter service to aid your comings and goings.
2. Heating and Air Conditioning: Earth Lodge is located in arid tropical mountains, so the daytime highs, at most, will reach about 82 degrees Fahrenheit with low humidity. As soon as the sun sets over the volcanos the temperature drops swiftly due to their high altitude location, with nighttime lows around 60 degrees fahrenheit; perfect conditions for cozy sleeping! As such, you'll find that you're quite comfortable both day and night without the need for air conditioning or heating. Welcome to the land of eternal spring!
3. Elevation: The elevation of Earth Lodge is around 6,200 feet (so about 1,000 feet above Denver), it is HIGHLY recommend hydrating prior and during your travels to Guatemala, as well as during your time here. Due to the arid conditions it's easy to get dehydrated without realizing it!
4. Flights: Most frequently, travelers book from NYC and Miami through United, Avianca, Jet Blue, and Copa also offer direct flights to Guatemala City. We suggest booking flights that land by 2:30- 3pm, at the latest, in order to settle in and be at the resort in time for the first meal/activities on the retreat.
